What’s with the
Name?
So how did I come up with
the name “Dreamnautics?”
One
day, while brainstorming names for my new company, I happened to have the TV on in the background. The movie
"Jason and the Argonauts" came on and it sparked my curiosity.
I'd
never seen this movie before but had heard of the story from Greek mythology. I had always wondered why the
characters were called 'argonauts.' Curious, I watched the movie for a while in an effort to learn the answer to
that question.
As
I learned from the story, the Argonauts are a band of heroes in Greek mythology who accompanied Jason in his
quest to find the Golden Fleece. Their name comes from their ship, the Argo, which was named after its builder,
Argus. So the term “Argonauts” literally means “Argo sailors”.
One
thought lead to another and suddenly I had a major 'ah-ha!' moment. If people sailing the Argo are Argonauts and
people who fly or go into space are aeronauts and astronauts, then someone navigating towards their dreams could
be thought of as a Dreamnaut™ and the process could be called Dreamnautics®!!
And
so the Dreamnautics® name was born.
